Tesla raises price of Model 3 following tariff hike
Faced with the increase in customs duties imposed by the European Union on vehicles imported from China, Tesla has decided to raise the prices of its Model 3 in France. The base price has climbed from 39,990 to 41,490 euros, an increase of 1,500 euros.
Impact on Model 3 versions
This increase is not limited to the standard version of the Model 3. Other versions, including those equipped with all-wheel drive, have also seen their prices increase proportionally. This is explained by Tesla's reliance on its Shanghai factory, which supplies a significant portion of the Model 3s sold in Europe.
Economic and commercial context
The increase in European customs tariffs is intended to strengthen the competitiveness of local manufacturers, but it has a direct impact on prices for consumers. For Tesla, which manufactures a large part of its vehicles destined for Europe in China, this measure translates into an increase in import costs, passed on to customers.
Future prospects
Although this increase is significant, the Tesla Model 3 remains a popular choice among electric vehicles. However, uncertainty remains about possible future price increases, depending on future political and economic decisions. Tesla could also choose to produce the Model 3 in its German factory currently dedicated to the European versions of the Model Y. But on this subject, the American firm has not issued any communication.
